I found this old 1940s ham radio at a flea market for 15 dollars.
It had apparently overheated and the coating on all the wiring was charred and falling off. It was a perfect candidate to turn into a lamp. I removed all the interior pieces and replaced the floor of the radio with a piece of wood, then added a ceramic ceiling light fixture to the inside. I bought a new toggle switch to match the vintage ones and wired the on/off switch on the lower right front. The lamp lets off a nice night-light type of glow.
