The base for this lamp was an old 1980s hotel lamp which had been resprayed with a stone finish, but I liked the vertical shapes and the solid, industrial-style base.
I wanted the final piece to appear reminiscent of a Tesla invention or like something you would see in Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory. Most of the round shapes are pieces from cheap chandeliers, and the center coil is a heating element from a ceramic kiln. The whole thing was faux-painted, starting with a base coat of flat black spray paint, then top-coated with various shades of burnt sienna and gray acrylic paint. The light bulb is a modern LED Edison-type bulb, which gives off a nice light without the heat of a traditional bulb.
